Dexron 4

My brother is a service mgr for a Cadillac dealership. He was wondering what the word in the street is about Dexron 4. It is the fluid going in the 6 speed automatics. He claims that transmissions using dex 3 can also use dex 4, however the reverse is not true. He did say that he read the breakdown on this stuff and in terms of cooling and all other aspects it is far superior to dex3. Anyway, he just wanted me to throw this out there and see what the word is.

there is no Dexron 4, only Dexron 6. The newest Dexron fluid jumped from Dexron III to now Dexron VI

It was a late conversation. The stuff is apparently pretty new, perhaps he got the numbers crossed.

Perhaps. I havent read much about it. As of now I do believe you can only get it at the dealers.

You can buy dexron 4 from Redline.

I think development and release for dexron 4 was a bit slow and dexron 6 was specified before any momentum was built up behind dexron 4.
