Tranny heading south, or just typical??

Tranny heading south, or just typical?? I just picked up an '02 WS6 A4, 55K miles (bone stock, zero mods) and I have a question about the firmness of the shifts and factory shift points. I've owned a few other f-body cars and all of them seemed to have a pretty firm 1-2 shift from the factory, this car is very smooth, almost not even noticeable. And I've also noticed that it's holding it's rev's longer than other cars I've owned, it doesnt shift out until ~6000-6100rpm. Just wondering if this is a sign of the tranny beginning to go, or am I worrying too much. My concern is that I have 3 months remaining on a factory warranty, and if it's getting ready to go, I'd like to see it go soon, so I wont have to eat the cost of a rebuild. Any help is appreciated.

well you have to consider that whoever owned it before you prolly drove the hell out of it 55k is not alot of miles but i have rebuilt trannies with less miles.....just the nature of the beast my 01 has 47k on it and it shifts really good i havnt went into it yet i will probably install a superior shift kit and pull out the 3rd accumulator ball and capsule and plug it up to make 3rd hit good
the bad part is on warranty work most of the time all they will do is replace what is bad like if the band is bad that is what they fix most of the time warranty will not pay for a complete build unless it is total failure.....and everything is burnt

Well, I would take it to the dealer with complaint that the tranny's slipping or whatever and have them write you up and get it into their system. Then when they tell you it's normal, and if it goes south soon after, you'll have some documentation to show that you took it in under warranty for the problem.

If they do replace the glazed bands, or whatever would be the culprit, would that prolong the life of the tranny, or just be a waste of time? Would a shift kit, or programming the tranny for firmer shifts help? If replacing the bands would help it feel firmer, I think I'd just rather take it to the dealer to save money out of my pocket. What do you guys recommend? Thanks.
