Horrid A4 shift points
Recently got atap/efilive and discovered that my shift points are absolutely horrible - <5500. The PCM is stock as is most of the car. Anyone else notice this issue? I am curious if raising the shift points to a more appropriate level will net some ET. Opinions?
Chris,
I know what you mean. My stock 1-2 shift point was at 5,400 RPM! My 2-3 was right at 6,000, though. I don't know how much the raised shift points added because I had Ed delete tq. mgt. and correct for the newly-installed 3.73's. After a bunch of passes once the tuning was done, I feel that I gained .2-.25 from the tuning since my 60' was virtually unaffected from the gear swap. I had my shift points set at 6,200, FWIW, after dynoing the car. Optimum shift points and the deletion of tq. mgt. will net a nice gain, especially on the cars with a BAD case of tq. mgt. Can you feel your car nose dive on the shifts? My '98 T/A wasn't too bad with the stock tuning as far as tq. mgt. goes, but my '02 was flat-out SAD.

It's a 98 so the TM is not too bad as shown by monitoring. I'm glad to hear others have the same issue, so it's not just me. Kind of explains why I've had trouble consistantly running 12s even though I regularly trap around 109. I'll be getting LS1Edit soon, so we'll see how much I've been giving up.
