a well known local around syracuse is quoting me $1200-$1600 (depending on the shape of the tranny) to build it up to withstand 600 hp. this price includes the labor of removing/installing too. does this sound like a good price? it does to me <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> just want to be sure <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> and save myself the hassle of building up a th400, driveshaft, and new coverter and crossmember ya know. which he can do that to he said.

Here is a list of what you get with a Speed Inc tranny:

Replace all clutches with Raybestos Blue racing clutches
Install Raybestos Hi Static low/rev
Install Hi energy band
Replace all steels with Kolene Steels
Replace all bushings
Replace all seals and gaskets
Replace Sun gear shell with HD harden drum shell
Replace stator with 4340 steel shaft
Install Billet servo
Install HD low roller sprag
Install HD Mechanical Diode sprag 3-4 v/s roller clutch
Mill both pump halves flat.
Replace pump rings with billet rings
Replace pump vanes with harden kolene vanes
Install Hi psi regulator valve
Machine case and convert from electronic line to modulated
Set all internal clearances to min specs.
Recalibrate VB for positive shifts.

This trans nor any other 4L60E will not hold up to 600hp without a freshening regularly. 450/500hp should be fine. I’m making about 430 at the crank right now and mine is doing great <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> Price is $1650. You can get an "extreme" version for 2 grand that has some more stuff in it:

5 Pinion HD front and Rear Planet
4340 Sun Gear Shell
Harden Stator Support
4340 Billet 13 Vane rotor
9 Clutch 3/4 clutch pack

I would guess this one should hold 500/550 well. I don't know anyone using this version yet though. Hell, it might hold 600. Won't know till someone tries...
