Stall Question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK, this is gnna snd totally stupid but im new to ls1tech.....can som1 explain to me jst how you use a torque converter or does it jst make it so ur trans dsnt kik in till the set rpm???? Bcuz my friend had a 3500 stall an fnd out he was using it wrng for lk 1 year so jst how do you use it??

Dear god, have you ever heard of vowels and grammar? Use them please. Basically in simplest form a TC is like a clutch for an auto. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but here is what i've been told to do. You press in the brake and hold it with your left foot. Then you give it gas slowly up untill you feel like the tires are about to spin. You hold it there untill the flag drops, then you floor it and get off the brakes. It's essentially like a clutch dump for autos. For the stock stall, I usually bring it up to about 1k, I've been told that you can get it up to about 1200, but I've never tried, the car gets a little shaky at a grand as it is. Hope that helps.

I'm new to the stall thing too and this is what i've observed. With my stall which is a 3600 2.5 STR, it takes more rpms to get going. I noticed it takes 2300 rpms on average to accelerate normally with traffic. I think my high STR helps my car feel very streetable. However, don't think the car feels slower since it takes more rpms to get moving. If I give it a little more gas it takes off like a bat out of hell. I do notice that whenever I hit the gas my car jumps to 3600 rpms really fast and kills the deadspots. Also, with my stall instead of the rpms dropping rapidly as the stock stall does, mine only falls to around 4500 rpms after shifts. I've never tried to stall it up high on lauch at the track though. Street tires and a high STR stall is a joke, as I found out. I had to leave around 2000 rpms and suprising cut good 60s on radials, but you could tell the car has lots more in it. A stalled A4 is almost as fun as an M6.
