Depends on converter.... If they are the same brand and set up you shouldn't see much difference..... Example loose 3800 to a tight 4000. The 4000 would have more drivability, especially for a DD. If you are looking for a tight 4000, I have heard nothing but praise about Yank being tight. Vigilante is on the same level but a little looser than Yank.

Yank told me that the difference between the SS3600 and SS3800 (200rpm stall speed) would turn into a difference of a 400rpm shift extension. Make sure you are considering that also.

Your new converter will likely stall lower and feel tighter than the old one. Is that what you wanted?

I don't want it to stall lower, A little tighter would be good..I have always read that the Vig's stall higher than advertised..weird thing is I went from the old school ST3500 yank to a Vig 3800 & they felt exactly the same..I really want to go back to yank but don't want to go to high of a stall for my application..Don't know if I want to go over 4000 on a daily driver, but I do want to try to squeeze a little more et out of it as I do drag race about once a month..I was dead hooking on my current setup to get that 12.21..

Yank SS4000 sounds like the ticket for you. Have you checked your stall speed with the Vig 3800? I was just assuming it would stall over the 4000 that your new one would be doing.

Personally it sounds like that money would be much better spent somewhere else...

I need a converter no matter what..Trans took a dump. I don't want to wait to send the converter to vigilante to "freshen Up"..I can get up & running & then send the converter back & have it for a spare or sell it...

i just switched to a yank py4000e from a vig 3600, and i can't tell the difference around town. at wot the vig flashed higher. shift extention might be a tad lower with the yank too. i think if i hadan't torn the lockup clutch out of my vig i would still have it. we'll see if i change my mind when i spray it.
