Anyone here of problems with torque converters and 2001 cars?
I have been hearing about code problems with a 2001 car and a toqe convertor. Is this true?And what are they?

No, no shudder problems with the Vig. I'd say there is a little bit of vibration (VERY small amount) over the stock converter, but it's barely noticeable.

Now that I think about it, maybe you were thinking about the excessive slipping and shuddering I DID have immediately after I picked up my car from having the Vig installed???
If so, that was caused by the trans shop that did the install underfilled the trans by about 1.5 quarts and I didn't think to check it before I left (shame on me).
When I got home, I filled the trans properly and all was well <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> .

Glad to hear it worked out. vibration increase is no surprise; anytime you change to a smaller and lighter converter you loose some of the dampening effect of the larger mass.

I don't know if it is the converter or not but something is up. The best time that I can get out of my setup is a 12.65 @ 107. This is with a 1.85' on ET Streets. This is the best 60' I've seemed to get b/c it won't do better. I don't even know what is causing the mph loss. I've put posts up on other boards and no one seems to know. But I was talking to a friend at the local shop and he was saying about torque management. I'll get the car tuned and if that doesn't work I'm pulling the verter out. Anyone having trouble with Yank lately?

I found the YTP 4000 & 3.73s is looser than a ST3500 & 3.23s. Using edit to raise part throttle shift points (e.g., hold second gear longer) and a low lock-up speed in 3rd helps tighten it up.

i don't friggin know what's going, but i'm getting new 2000 PCM, programmed for my car,
2000 PCMs do not know about bad codes, misfires and other disaster.
injectors, etc was set for 2k1 car.
A friend of mine running this comb, he says Car flys, no codes, no ses lights, super duper, we'll see, i'm gonna post tomorrow after i'll install the PCM

So Yank changed the clutch (design? material?) in the ST3500 for '01 cars? Has anyone run the updated converter in an '01 yet?
I might, maybe, possibly think about another ST3500 (I really do like that higher STR and top-end efficiency of the ST), but not until I hear one success story after another from people that have the updated ST3500 in a daily driven 2001 or 2002 car.

P0300 Code after mine was installed.
I believe that he went with a slightly larger surface area and not quite as agressive a material, but I have not seen a sample of the new clutch. The new clutch material has been shipping for about a month or two, but I'm not certain as he had some supply issues getting it in quantity.
