sooo does adjusting the shift points through a converter do the same thing as the shift kit does? is one better than the other? its my g/f's 02 Z28 with bolt ons.
Shift kits don't touch shift point RPM/MPH, just
pressures and internal apply/release action when
commanded. If you need more than stock line
pressure then you need a shift kit (and probably
more than that) but for getting it to follow your
foot, tuning is what it wants. And the converter
has even less to do with shiftpoints although it
will help cover up some factory stupidity as well
as giving you more off the line.

what a quality shift kit can do far exceeds anything a tune can do in all cases , it cannot fix shift timing problems but it can fix a multitude of other issues and make your transmission work last much longer
Tuning does make it feel good trust me but the way its done is the issue the transmission was designed to take a certain amount of preasure the way tuning gets there is by raising that preasure and from experience that breaks stuff i can tell you , a tune is great for setting shift points even minor preasure increase but a shift kit is the right way to do it .
