Nope, I don't even drive stick. I'm just wondering the logic behind a 4-speed, instead of 5. Tranny seems to work fine though, and the car sure is fast. This is my first v8 f-body. so, what is the stock stall anyway? and how does stall work? Like, if I put in a 3400 convertor, I can still accelerate at under 3400 RPM, right?

Anyway, the stock stall is 1600-1800rpm on the 4L60E converter.

how about driveable = driving in downtown trafic, parking lots and on the hiway.
wouldn't be very driveable if you couldn't do those basic things.
I thing he ment is it still okay for a dailly driver and not having to rev the car to what ever the stall is before you get movement.
Is that what you ment?

2) 4L60-E's are great transmissions. The 'E' stands for electronic overdrive, and it works quite well.
Or in plain language, 4 speeds with a lockup.
Also, I like the 700R4's and TH350's, but the 4L60E is a respectable transmission, and its a beast with a stall.
Im getting a Yank Stealth 3000 this spring for my LT1, and I can't wait.

Well, since I probably won't race the car, launch doesn't matter as much as it does those who do race. I'm concerned about creeping at the stoplight. At what point does a 2800 start to move the car?
