Default Anybody have a Derale deep pan?

Does any one have a Derale deep pan on their 4l60E? I'm thinking about replacing the stock pan for this just because it holds more trans fluid and keeps it cooler.

Trans Pan

I am also interested in this, as far as clearance issues and such?

i have the pan, there are no clearance issues, the frame will scrape before this pan gets near the ground...it takes a standard ls1 filter though, not a deep pan (truck) filter...

Is it as sturdy as the stock pan? Does it hold more fluide? One person reported rusting...what is your opinion, will painting it pre-installation fix this???

I have one. It was much cheaper than the aluminum counterparts. I haven't had any problems with rust. It has held a nice clean finish. No problems with fitment either. I think the ad listed 2 qts additional fluid capacity.

I had one long ago on a TH350 in a '70 Camaro and it started leaking where one of the tubes ran through the pan. I switched to a B & M aluminum pan and never had a problem. I also run a B & M on my present car.Like I said, it was long ago and probably the derale pans are better now.

it is as sturdy as the stock pan i believe, both are steel pans one is just slightly deeper, since it isnt aluminum it has just as much chance of rusting as the stock pan although i have never seen any signs of rust. you can paint if you want, doubt it would make too much difference besides look nice...

the derale pan does hold more fluid than a stock pan, it is about as deep as most other aftermarket pans, it may hold slightly less fluid than a b&m for the simple fact that the cooling tubes take up space, also the top of the tubes is just about the same height as the floor of the stock pan which is the reason a stock sized trans filter must be used while other pans can use a truck filter (taller neck)...

i have jacked my trans up by this pan and dragged the trans across the driveway (not by choice) and the pan never leaked on me, even with all the dents and scratches, it is not like an aluminum pan that could crack from impacts and jacking the trans the way i did...that doesnt mean this pan is indestructible though lol...

With the **** roads around here that is a MAJOR selling point in my book. Why is it so much cheaper ( get what you pay for...) just price of manufacture and aluminum I guess? It say's its zinc coated...shouldn't rust...

aluminum pan is gonna hold up better to road debris, IMO.
