I'm looking to put in a 12 bolt but I'm still uncertain to the manufacture I want to go with. I read on project trans am that the strange and KTRE units bolt right up but the moser takes some custom fab work to get it put in. What the deal with this. I was leaning towards the moser because of the price but I don't want to take forever to put it in either.
I have installed 2 moser's and 3 Strange 12 bolts. Neither of them needed any modifications to install. However, some aftermarket TQ arms need a little massaging to fit, but the stocker won't have any problems. The only thing needed will be a different u-joint.

Only thing you need to do with the Moser unit, above and beyond the Strange, is have the bearings pressed on the axles. Hardly what you would call custom fabrication.

I decided to fork over the extra few hundred dollars that DTS charges for their 12 bolt just so it would be a "complete" bolt in. They told me it would come ready to install, axle to axle with new brake backing plates and everything. I received the unit over 2 weeks ago and the axles had nothing on them but reluctor rings and a couple of big gouges. I'm still waiting for my new axles to come back with the backing plates, bearings and hardware to install them with. So much for a DTS bolt in - and I got robbed on the price!!!
Its been VERY frustrating. Needless to say I should have just went with Strange and saved a few hundred bucks. I guess the bottom line is, buyer beware because "bolt on" isnt always "bolt on"!!

I am glad this was mentioned, I completely forgot. I HIGHLY recommend getting a second set of backing plates to send. I had to put a set of axles in one Moser rear end, and it was a MF'er. Won't ever do that again....
