Thoughts on broken stator?
Had my truck freak out on me awhile back, started acting like it was slipping, then low on fluid, etc.
Park it, get the trailer, let it cool. When we came back it started and drove ok, enough to get it in the trailer.
Fast forward 6 weeks, as I lacked motivation to take it apart

Go to start it to move it inside, and no movement.
Get the trans out, go to take the converter off. It's stuck. Have to pry the converter off. Pen light inside shows the stator is at least 2 pieces that I can see.
Need less to say, the trans is being gone through again. And i'm sure all the bushings are smoked again. I didn't drop the pan, cause I know what I'd fine. The drain plug was fuzzy enough already.
Just curious if anyone has seen this before.

#1 was a clutch failure, but i take responsibilty for that. 2nd gear WOT applies on a 10" converter with 5500lbs of truck and probably 650 to 700 ft-lbs
DOH! That's very unusual. I've only seen a couple 245mm stator break in the last 5 years. We offer steel stators for most applications. Give me a call and we can talk about your options.
