I just had my Vig3200 installed this week and tried it at the track tonight.

Sorry for the incompleted post my computer keeps screwing up <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> Anyway like I was saying I took my car to the track tonight and was not very happy. The best time it ran was 12.76@106mph 1.8260ft. I was happy with the 60ft but I lost about 2 or 3 mph from what it normally ran with stock converter. I was wandering if this was normal for the V

 

What was your previous ET and MPH?

Just about any time you increase your torque without increasing HP you are gonna better your ET but lose or stay steady on MPH.

All Vig's are known for losin a little on top end.

I lost 2 MPH when I got mine. Its a sacrifice......That just means time for more mods <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

My previous best was 12.65@110.34mph 1.92 60ft on F1's. That was during early sring of this year with cool weather. The car runs anywhere from 12.8's to 13.0's now in the warmer weather, just depends on how the track is prepped. On a better tire I hope it will do better I ran last night on some old Hoosier Quick time's. Is 1.82 a good 60ft for the Vig with my other mods? The car did wheel hop pretty bad.One more question, what should I set my shift points to? I did have +3 +2 0. Thanks

 

Something is not right. I was running about the same as you before the Vig(12.75's), but picked up .75 tenths with just the TC, ET Streets instead of Nitto's and removing my passenger and rear seats... Heat will affect your times quite a bit, but you should still be in the low 12's.

Your 60's should be better as well.

You should be low low 12s with that convertor. With the Vig 2800 (actually stalled to 3100 or so) I cut two 1.64s and a 1.65 at Atco on ET Streets in -300 DA. You also should not lose much MPH, I gained 2 MPH with mine.

 

any ideas on what my problem could be? 1.8260ft not that good for the Vig with my mods? I am hoping the taller tire took some gear out of the car and BFG's will correct that.

 

any thoughts as to that it could be in the launch.
if you are stalling it up too high you will experience wheel hop regardless of how tall a tire you choose. vigilantes like to be flashed as yanks like to be stalled. that means only stall it to 1500-2000 rpms and then on the light (flag) bury it. if you go too high you will experience low 60's and thus in turn your ET, MPH will suffer. thats my thought, but let me know how, what you are doing as i have had no problems with mine and do 1.6 60's and low 12s with the same verter on nittos.

A 1.6x 60' takes a pretty clean launch. I'd borrow a set of ET streets and try them. Unless track prep really sucks, the 10.5" on stock rims should be plenty of tire for your mods.

Lighten up the front along with those ET Streets, and you might be getting some 1.50 60's. I do

My average with the Vig 3200 was 1.52, last year. Got H&C work done, so still trying to figure the car out. See ya

 

How the heck do you guys do it?

I have tried every way of launching I know how to do and the best I could get on the 3200 was a 1.70 runnin 12.3

When we installed the Vig3200 in my wife's car we gained about 1mph and 5-7 tenths. With BFG drag radial she is consistantly in the mid to low 1.6s and has been a 1.59 60'. Get a good sticky tire on there and I'm sure your times will come around.

with my 2800 yank on nittos i was cutting 1.82's average so with that 3200 vig you should be in the 1.70's atleast.

its no reason why a 245/50/16 nitto or 255/16 BFG wont hook with your setup. If you running at Richmond dragway there track prep usually isnt the best form what i here. Try a different track!

when i switched from the 2800 yank to vig3600 my times only went down to 12.5's UNTILL i learned how to re drive the car. I was sooo ticked and thought the converter sucked. With any stall, you wont make a great ET unless you get that killer 60! When you start cutting 1.70's or 1.60's your ET will take a big drop and your mph will be back up.

but with the vig3600 and 245/16nittos i can cut 1.5's and 1.6's with ease... just give it time,and eveerything will come together! Best of luck <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

 

btw, i see where you bumped your shifts up a little.. do you know what rpm the cars shifting at on each shift?

generally its a lost cause shifting above 6000 on our cars with stock internals

 

I think it is shifting around 5800rpm. I am not positive though. I will pay more attention the next time out. How much gear do you guys think the taller tires are taking from me? If you are running 16" wheels get you a set of 255/50/16 BFG Drag Radials and that will work great with that converter. I would also get the shift points up to about 6100-6200 as well. Your car should easily be able to run in the low 12s, and 1.6x 60's.

With a Vig 3200 you lose on average 10-12 on top and the torque dies off quick. I know people love the Vig on this site but IMO the Vig SUCKS. Who cars about a 60ft when down the road you are getting smoked. Get a custom converter that is more evective on top and still gives you a nice 60ft. The race is a quarter mile not 60ft remember that!!!
