Whats up with my trans
Whats up with my trans Hi Guys,
I was strechin my legs the other night, put the trans in 3rd(drive) and rolled it on pretty good,when the tach got to about 5K the trans just totally disengauged like nuetral, I pulled over and then started again and it shifted fine going into fourth and even lockup. temp was at 167. What do you think happened. Mods in sig.

May sound like a dumb question but have you checked the fluild ?

Checked and changed about 800 miles ago,not by me so I will look into this. I haven't seen any leaks, but I will def. check it. The trans worked perfectly after that, although I'm not going to hit it again until I find the cause, but the rest of the way home (20 miles) temp stayed at 167 and trans shifted fine.
The reason I said that is with the high rpm and shift of the fluild if it was low it could have emptied the pan momentarily , so I would check that first

Thanks, I'll check that tomm.,would be very relieved if thats what it is. I heard that you have to fill these things running is that correct, maybe they didn't fill it all the way.
