SY3500 vs. ST3500
Which one of these converters will give the best performance from a stand still and from a roll(I will be using 315 BFG DRs)? I have 3.42 gears will the ST3500 feel a good deal tighter than the SY3500 with it's lower STR? Overal which one has the best driveability with 3.42 gears. BTW. I have a C5.
The ST will be alot better from a standstill.
The SY will be slightly better from a roll.
The ST will be a little tighter and thus better from a streetability standpoint (although the SY is still a very streetable converter.)
I'll move this to the drivetrain section. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

The ST will also be harder to launch on the street, but if you go to the track much, the ST3500 will be the better choice. Most people will say the ST3500 is better overall, but I'm very satisfied with my SY3500. Of course, I don't go to the track either.
ST3500 is tighter and slightly quicker in the quarter. The only reason to get a SY3500 would be if you are traction-limited and with 315 DR's I would say that this is not likely - get the ST3500.

I agree, 315 BFG drag radials should work great with an ST3500 even if it is a 'Vette (meaning that 'Vettes are a little harder to hook up with.)
I had a SY3500 with 3.73 gears. It wasn't enough converter to fully take advantage of 275/40/17 Nittos.

I love the ST-3500 and the 3.73 gear. Its one great combination, not lose at all and very streetable, but hits hard off the line.

Well I have the SY3500 and race at the track often so needless to say I don't like it , it doesn't seem to hit hard at all , Im looking to trade mine for a st3500 soon !!!
I've got a buddy with a '98 Z28, Hooker LT's, custom Y through a muffler of some type, 3.42's, 17" wheels and DR's, full interior - ran 12.3's in 1100 DA.
Pull the interior and add some skinnies to go with the cut-out and pulley he's added - and the car should be 12.Oh's in good weather. Maybe better. On 1.7 60's. Car hooks on the street.
Those SY3500's aren't bad..

My friend has a bone stock 2002 Z28 convertible. After hearing our LT1 friend add cam/ported heads/intake and full exhaust, he's ready to mod his car. He'll probably add lid/filter/full exhaust and a stall of some sort. He will probably never track race, and only occasionally street race. I'm assuming he'll be on stock tires. Is the SY3500 his best bet?
Thanks! <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
