do shift kits really improve the life of your tranny?

ok just been looking at different brands of shift kits and eeryone ive seen and read about says something about improves life of transmission etc. is it true? if so how does it improve the life?

just wondering thanks

Crisper shifts = less slippage in clutches = longer clutch pack life.

Agreed while tuning can improve shifts , A shift kit accomplishes much more and addresses many more issues , A mild shift kit can greatly increase the life of a stock transmission that in good shape,
