I answered your question in my post above.

You have a bolt on yoke.

You need a slip yoke.

You cannot attach your driveshaft to the bolt on yoke.

Your driveshaft and possibly transmission and rear diff won't make it around the block if you do that.

Why do you think there would be a need for a "slip" yoke?

There are 5 types of 4L80E output shafts that I know of.
1. Is just like a th400 and will accept either a bolt on yoke or th400 slip yoke. They usually come with a bolt on yoke.
2. Slip yoke only. These have splines all the way up to the rear bearing. A slip yoke with splines to the end will work with this type and usually came with this type.
3. HD truck series with tail mounted brake. Same as type one but about 3/4 longer. You can remove all the brake stuff and tail housing, put on a regular tail housing, and use a th400 slip yoke. The driveshaft might need to be 3/4" shorter.
4. 4x4 shaft, real obvious and real short. If you convert a 4x4 4L80E to a regular output shaft don't forget to put a reluctor wheel on the output carrier, it's in the trans case.
Guess thats only four.

this is the exact info i have been looking for. i need to get a 2wd 4l80e with a bolt on yoke. is there any particular year, vehicle model i should get one out of to ease installation into my project?
