Moderators, I have this posted in Computer Forum also. Figured some of the people that have done the swap would read it here better.
I just installed a TH400 in my car and understand that I need to have my computer flashed so it will think it is an M6.
The question is what, other than multiple SES lights, will happen if I leave it as an A4? Will it go to "limp home mode"?
Has anyone done the swap and NOT had it reflashed?

I have a th350... no reflash here, and not running any kind of tranny tricker either. So far so good. I put about 200 miles on the setup, and then ran a whole slew of low 10sec passes.
I need to get atap on it, and see what it's reading... but I prefer letting the track test the performance, and so far its working well.
I don't know if any special stuff was done with LS1-edit at the time of the install, but to my knowledge nothing was I'll try and check for sure on that.
If you hear anything contrary..let me know.

Larry, that's good to know. Do you get a bunch of SES codes without the PCM seeing the tranny? Or did you just have them deleted with LS1 Edit?
If I learn different within the next few days, I'll let you know. If you hear about what/if anything was done with LS1 Edit on your install, please post it.
Thanks,
Tim

Tim my car has every possible service light lit all the time <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Not a big issue for me. I'll let you know what I find out.
Thanks

Thanks

I don't remember all of the codes right off hand that will be set, but it's just stuff like "1-2 shift solenoid high" etc... I never saw any difference with or without the SES light set for the "missing" tranny codes (I used a Yank PCM tricker)...
When the new motor goes in (crossing my fingers for next week), I won't be using the PCM tricker anymore and will just delete the codes with LS1Edit...

So George, I take it you didn't have your PCM reflashed to M6, correct. I have heard also that there is a power loss if you don't reflash the PCM. Did you notice anything?
