Installed T/C now car stalls Hey guys, I just installed a yank TP4400 In my 2002 Camaro SS. NOw the car want to stall when it is in gear. Before i put the converter in, It would misfire at a stoplight but i didn't think that putting a converter in the car would affect this. Also, I don';t really like the converter too much. I think it makes the car rev up WAY too high before it moves. I bought it off a buddy of mine and in his car the converter seemed to stall ALOT lower than in my car. It seemed to stall at about 2500 rpm in his car and in my car I have to rev it up to about 3400 rpm just to move the car. Once it ges going the car flies though. The only mods he has that i don't is a small cam and 3.73 gears. Would the gear affect the stall that much? I mean overall the car is REAL hard to drive around town and pretty much just drives like a bag of S%*T. I think I'm gonna pull out the converter and get a diffrent one. Any suggestions? I am thinking about gettin 3.73 gears for the car and i want a converter that would go well with my 3.23 as well as the new 3.73. Right now I also have NX 150 Wet kit on the car but it is probably coming off because my buddy had a meltdown with his and now i'm paranoid about it happening to me. I would really like to have a car that is fast on the street but will also rip at the track. Starting to wish ijust left it stock but the mod bug has bitten me. Thanks for any input,

Re: Installed T/C now car stalls Forgot to mention that I think the misfire is from the NGK TR6's that are in the car for the juice. Just another reason to take off the juice i guess.

Re: Installed T/C now car stalls How about a ST3800. I'm removing it from my car tomorrow. It has 300 miles on it since I had it restalled and checked out by Yank. It was a ST3500. I am having some problems getting it to lock up and sometimes it chatters after it locks up under light acceleration, but the Yank experts on this board have assured me that there is nothing wrong with the converter. It is my cam, or my tranny's line pressure, or I need custom tuning, or I need to adjust the lock up pulse width, or the ported MAF ends I don't have on the car.

Re: Installed T/C now car stalls 3.73s will tighten the converter a bit. Thats probably why your friends converter seemed tighter.
I also had the same problem stalling (not sure if your talking about the same thing). The car would turn off at a stop light or going reverse. All I did was turn the idle screw a bit to raise the idle and that helped.

Re: Installed T/C now car stalls stalling is normal, it will reduce as the car/computer gets used to it, as well as yourself getting use to driving w/ a stall. You'll learn how to keep it from stalling. You could set the idle higher, but I never had to until I did H/C. Also give the converter a full evaluation and some extended driving time before you decide to a pull your $950 investment. Of course its going to drive like sh*t, its a 4400 stall w/ 3.23's. I say get some 3.73's and you'll be much happier.

Re: Installed T/C now car stalls 3.73s will knock a couple hundred rpm off the rpm you to cruise around at before lock-up.
If I leave from a dead stop and quickly bring it to 3400 and hold it at that rpm, nobody stays with me unless they are racing. I rarely need more than 2800 rpm in town, but when I get on it more, it jumps right to about 3400. After that it jumps to 4000 rpm, but that is joy riding power at that point <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
The combination of raised part throttle shift points (LS1 Edit) and 3.73s makes the converter much more livable.

Re: Installed T/C now car stalls Thanks for all of the replies. I ordered 3.73 gears today and we will see if that helps. I have to admit the converter is starting to grow on me. Also the TR6's are gapped at .035. Gonna try one heat range hotter and see if that helps.
