Default Yank ST3500 vs. PY3400E

I am looking to get a converter for my 2002 Camaro SS. The car is stock for now, with A4 3.23 gears. I read that Yank will no longer make the ST3500 after August 1st. I'm not really ready to buy one quite yet, but now time is a factor. How comparable is the PY3400E? I will add bolt-ons and maybe a TNT nitrous kit down the road, but mainly stock for now. Is holding out and paying almost another $250 later worth it, or is the ST3500 the best deal and this is the last chance? Thanks for the comments.

The PYE 3600 is pretty close to the ST 3500 for NA (ST 3500 is a bit better) and will work very well with TNT.

I agree with Ragtop. If you're even considering the ST3500, then don't consider the PY3400E, it's too tight in comparison. The PY3600E is more comparable to the ST3500 on motor and will be better on the spray.

Thanks for the replys. Why is the PY3600E still a little short on N/A performance when compared to the ST3500? It has a higher stall and STR? Is it because it is a larger converter (9" vs. 10")?

The PYE converters are setup for Power Adder performance.. so they are a little tighter.

Plus the PYE is physically bigger, which means they don't have the same "spin up" speeds... that make the "smaller" 9" converter shine... but they sacrifice holding power. A 3500 would probably stall to close to 3900-4000 on the gas... where the PYE should on stall slightly higher than 3600.

The PYE will be a great street converter + killer with a power adder.
