Default Need your help (RE: FLP IV trans question)

OK, here is my problem. I got my loan approved the other day, went to the bank today to pick up the check. Got my check in my account now. So the money isn't the problem now. What my problem is, I called chuck @ FLP again today, spoke to him for the amount to make the M.O. for, and while were talking i told him I was still unsure of which torque converter to go with. I "THINK" i want the VIG 3600, (the car isn't a daily driver) My current stealth thruster 3200 was OK to start with, but i quickly out grew it. I told him i wanted something a little more loose, and will launch pretty hard. He made me fill out this converter form which he faxed to me, filled it out accordingly, but i want to be sure that im going to be happy with my new verter, people say that a vig 3600 stalls @ like 4300, but chuck said "no way" it will stall @ 3600-3800. Im so confused, its not even funny. Also, say im in OD doing 55 MPH, will the vig3600 downshift and take off like a rocket. Basically, is this a good verter for racing from a roll? LAST QUESTION: for those of you how have actually ordered this trans from him, what is the correct way of doing it. Do i send the M.O. and call him when i made up my mind up with which torque converter to with, or do i make sure that im happy with everything, then send in the M.O.??????????????????????????

please help me, i would hate to make a 3000.00 mistake

You better watch out when the trans breaks. Because IF it breaks, which ISNT a stretch, he wont back up his trans with ANY kind of warranty. Even if it breaks the day after or 3-4 weeks after you bought it...Just thought I would let you know.

Chuck/FLP

Are you sure you want me to? Im a little upset at what I heard when I spoke to my cousin this past week. He told me he brought you his level 4 trans on July 2nd , you didnt look at it for a week(which is understandable since you are busy) but then you also told him that you hadnt forgotten about my "debt" and basically you meant that you were going to take your time with his trans since I havent paid you money that I really DONT OWE YOU. He told me you STILL dont even have it done. It has been what, 4 weeks and you havent put together the trans yet? How can you pass debt from one person to the other? What I am basing my facts on is me bringing MY 2200 dollar stage 4 trans that I bought from you last year around august and then it breaking later that month and you telling my cousin that you wont fix his trans because I owe YOU 600 dollars. Do you really think its right that I should have to pay you 600 dollars when 3 weeks earlier I paid you 2200 for a trans you said is basically bulletproof? If you would like, I can delete this topic and come by and we can talk about "what money you think I owe you". The only thing that I will have no problem paying for is the case that you had to put in the 2nd trans you built for us. I realize that I owe you money for that and I will gladly pay up that debt. As for paying you to fix a tranny you had built and had less than 1 thousand miles on it and 3 passes with a bolt on car and NEVER SPRAYED is just NUTS. Speed Inc warranties the trans no matter WHAT the customer does to it. I didnt even beat on the car and you wouldnt warranty your trans. If you would like Chuck, I can come by sometime and we can talk. But if it was MY trans that you had there for almost a month, believe me, Id be on this board telling everyone. And I know a lot of people believe me. Let me know if you would like me to stop by and we can have a talk if you want.
Greg
PS. You are a sponsor on this board and Im surprised about the things I have heard. My cousin Tom doesn't hold a grudge but I do. I AM A ******* and I admit it. If you did the things to me that Tom says he has had to go through the last 4 weeks you wouldnt like it. I cant beleive he hasnt gotten on here yet talking about what you did to him over the last month. I talked to him last night and he told me you didnt even tell him the converter was fucked when the trans went so he could get the converter redone. And you have known this for OVER two weeks. What kind of customer service is that? Have you even told him whats wrong with the trans after having it over a month...NO....have you even looked at the trans? Probably not.
I would call you a DICK who doesnt know how to run a business but you said reply with facts and youll take care of it and me saying you are a dick who doesnt know how to run a business is a OPINION. So there are the facts. For any of the moderators, everything I have posted is FACT and my cousin will be on sometime today to add his say in it but he is at work right now and cant get to a computer just yet. Its funny how me and him paid 4500 dollars last summer for two trannies and I owe him money and Tom cant even get his trans fixed. So far, these two trannies have broken one time each. Great job Chuck

I dont want to get in-between on this, but i just ordered the level IV trans from chuck last week, along with a vig 3600, and i can't wait to play with my new toys. Chuck was very nice, very prompt, and answered all my questions honestly. I would like to see YANK do that. Yank NEVER called me back (left a couple voice mails), not one email ever replyed too. On the other hand, CHUCK/FLP has already called me at work, made time to speak to me (CUSTOMER SERVICE ) and made it a point that I would be very happy with his product. So I bought it. More than likely the best 2800.00 ever invested in my car. As far as im concerned, CHUCK is the man.

I have spoke with Chuck on a couple of occaisions and he was very accomodating with his time and answered all of my questions. I still have my stock tranny, but when the day comes to replace it with a beefier unit, I won't hesitate to order a Level IV tranny from FLP and Chuck.

Minty give Chuck a call and try to get this worked out. Knowing FLP, they will make this right. We all get upset, but as you know, being an A-hole won't get you very far. Good luck.

If you found that all out yesterday or the day before like you said, it wouldnt have been a bad idea to call him and let him know. Anyways, the facts as you call them, the credit card was not bad the next day. I thought about it after you told me and I shouldnt have just not talked to you but I didnt feel it was right that I pay 600 bucks for you to fix a stage 4 trans that had less than 1000 miles on it and REALLY, NO BULLSHIT had not been beaten on. The trans that you refer to as the "beaten up" one was stock trans we brought to you to build us a 2nd stage 4. The stage 4 that broke was not the one that was beaten on. I even have witnesses from the night it broke, we were driving home from great america and it just started slipping. So I parked the car and had it towed to your shop. There was NO abuse. I have no reason to lie, the last thing I wanted to happen was to be always worried that a stage 4 trans might keep breaking. So I apologize about not telling you where I stood. Here is the deal, when you finish Tom's trans, I will come with him to pick it up. I will have cash on me and we will discuss how to make this right. How does that sound??? If you would like, I can also bring the people that were in the car last year when it broke just driving it regularly like I stated. They wouldnt lie as 1 of them is a moderator on another board. Thats besides the point, let me know how you want to handle this.

Actually Greg, Chuck does know who I am, and my family. He put a trans and motor in my cavalier for me (dont even want to start on that topic) when he was working out of his garage. So I do know both parties, and I can say HONESTLY, that Greg WAS NOT beating on his car, we were just driving home from great america when the car's trans decided to start slipping away. But thats here nor there. Im sure chuck will be fair and work out whatever descrepencies that reside.

I know this is just the outskirts, But from what I have read FLP doesn't stand up to there Trans.
why would you say "he beats on it thats why?" no matter what your trans should hold up.

Oh just to through this in, with Tom's trans ( SPEED INC.) if anything breaks at all he will replace it for "FREE".........
Are you going to fix toms trans for free chuck?
Sorry thats all i had to say...

My .02 Cents.

I have gone through a similar situation with Speed Inc.

We spend $2500 to have a race prepped trans. in our cars, so that we don't have to CONSTANTLY worry about breakage. My stock trans. lasted 18k miles. I called up IZZO and had him put in one of his new trans after the stocker blew up. This was in March folks........

Everytime I have had a problem with my transmission Tom and Larry have been more than accommodating when I have brought it in. They have repaired and in some cases REPLACED everything. In one case the reason the trans. blew up may have even been my own fault!!!!

The last time I had trans. problems, Tom and Larry offered to put a stock trans. back in my car, AND give me a full refund. That my freinds keeps customers coming back, time and time again. No bitching, no moaning, just stand behind your product as it's advertised.

It seems to me that with such a large initial investment of 2k + and the moniker of having a FLP Stage IV trans that blows up after 3-4 weeks of NORMAL driving, or RACING for that matter. If we beat on our cars that is why we bought a RACE-PREPPED trans so don't give the lame excuse that we were driving it too hard, FLP should stand behind their product, end of story.

Well, I am going to say that I will wait until my cousins trans is done and I will go there with him to pick it up and me and tom and chuck will have a long talk about what exactly the deal is. We have spent 5 thousand dollars for a product that we were told is the BEST for our car. Make no mistake, the trans when operating KICKS ***. These problems after purchasing is basically what Im looking to take care of. Hopefully the trans will be repaired this week so we can stop by and talk and I or my cousin, or chuck can come on here and type that we have come to a resolution.
