Default Help! First day and Problems with Converter already...

First off I want you all to know what "MY CONVERTER 'MIGHT' HAVE BEEN RECONSTRUCTED" as i was told by a friend of mine. I was like whatever. I had the $900 dollar piece of crap installed and now theres a weird noise that happems as soon as i hit 2000 RPM's and up??? Below that when you accelerate theres nothing no noise and when you get to 2000 RPM's and up i get a noise kinda like theres a something loose rattling like a pan or something(example). Dont know what to do. Anybody might have a clue? When i opened the box the top of the converter was scratched. All around it on top the paint was missing like it was used? Dont know if thats the way they come out of the factory. You think they screwed me over? Any input would be appreciated.

Hopefully, when they reinstalled your Y-pipe, they left something loose. Or just didn't get it in there properly and that's what your hearing.

Happened to me.

Jack up the car, crawl underneath there and have a look.

Look, listen, feel....

Anything loose?

The only way to learn more about your car is to work on it.

BTW, if you hot rod your car and or mod it.... stuff WILL break or need adjustment from time to time. It's a LOT cheaper if you can do it your self.

a LOT cheaper.

IF it is a Yank converter, they are usually still wet from the fresh paint when they box them up....

Its a Vigilante 3000 I hear the noise and just dont know what it is it doesnt sound to serious but a friend and I are going down to check to see what we can see especially the Y-Pipe. Hopefully that is it and not the converter itself. Ill let you guys know whats wrong with it, if i cant figure it out ill take it to the mechanic, anyway heading off to the track in a while so im taking it noise or no noise. Low 11's, Here i Come. One more thing, inside when your driving the noise comes from the front drivers side, kinda sounds like its inside the door where the mirror on the door is at. Under the car around that area. Dont think its the Y-pipe. Sigh, will check it out tomm. Thanks
