Anyone looked at the Sunfire shifter. I seriously considered moving to that. The "cobra" one, not the regular one. It has a pretty good feel. I still throw it around as an idea, but I can't find a good one at a junk yard and GM wants $80+ so the stock one stays for now.

I rang B&M about six months ago and they said they were working on one that would probably be ready in about 1 year.

I like the semi-stock look of this shifter, but it does not appear to be a ratchet shifter (the only reason I would change mine).

I can't find much in the way of pictures, but the ones I have seen I really liked. They are stock GM parts and came on the Sunfire. They had two options, the first had a button on top to engage the trans, similar to camaro, and the other comes up in the GM catalog as the "cobra" version. The trigger is in the front and the shape is nice. Also, there was one version that had the button for traction control on it. I always thought it would be cool to hook that up as a nitrous arm switch. I did manage to find a part number: 10192226. GM wants a fortune for it.

Here are a few pics I found. Sorry I couldn't find any better pics, these hardly give you an idea.

Anyway, nothing special, just something I've always thought would look pretty good.

You can use a Corvette shifter with a slight modification.

anyone know the part number for the shifter assembly? I'm planning on doing a M6 to auto swap and would love to go with the corvette shifter.

I spoke to the Tech department at B&M yesterday and they said that the shifter has been put on an indefinate hold. Seems as though they are not making any new products what so ever at this time. So it doesnt look like its going to happen at all. That sucks ****! I wanted one (the shifter not the ****) to spruce up the interior but according to B&M I am gonna have to go somewhere else for a shifter. Sorry for the bad news guys.

John, the Sunfire shifter looks similar to the ones Momo carries, have you checked them out?

It's difficult to make an auto shifter look badass like what the M6 guys get. The further we get from stock appearance, the more out-of-place it looks, IMO.

How about hammer shifter from B&M? This is from there website,
80885 - General Motors - TH400, 350, 250, 200, 700-R4, 200-4R* (* fits 4L60E & 4L80E with used with custom installation where an aftermarket controller is used to command the transmission. )

Where do you get an aftermarket controller from?

They are reffering to the possibility that the computer controlled transmission is not being installed in a computer controlled vehicle ... like a muscle car, then you would need a TCM (Transmission Control Module). The hammer shifter will actuate all the gear detents from a 4-speed GM, but it is not a direct bolt-in. Serious customization or modification will be required.
