? for those with TransGo shift kit. I have a TransGo shift kit waiting to go in. My friend that works for a transmission shop says it will kill my transmission quickly and not to do it. It's better to use a HPP3 to increase line pressure. While others (other friends and people on different boards, etc.) says it can actually help the tranny last longer and is better than a HPP3. SOOOOO??? Which is it?

Re: ? for those with TransGo shift kit. It sounds like he has it backwards. I am NOT a fan of firming up the shifts by raising the line pressure. I've seen more instances of trans problems from this than I have from a shift kit. The only time that a TransGo will hurt the trans is if it's installed incorrectly. Some shops won't install the complete kit because of either lack of knowledge or laziness, but they'll tell you that it was completely installed. This will lead to problems down the road, no doubt. I had a TransGo in my '98 T/A with no problems, and I've been running one in my SS for ~5,000 miles with no problems. The key is to make sure that it's installed correctly. Just be sure to NOT raise the line pressure with the HPP3 or a B&M ShiftPlus if you do get the TransGo installed. I don't recommend it either way, but you really want to avoid it after a shift kit is installed.
