TH400 and a working speedometer???
I finished up my TH400 install last weekend and the only thing I haven't done as of yet is to hook up the speedo. I can't see spending ~$250.00 for Yanks piece. Nothing against Yank at all. It just seems mighty high.
Someone told me that there may be a much cheaper route using all GM parts/pieces. Anyone know of this?
What else have people done OTHER than the Yank part?
Tim

Re: TH400 and a working speedometer???
do the LS1s still use a 40 tooth reluctor? i have both the reluctor and sensor to use to make a th400 work with an LT1 speedometer. makes it work perfect in Auto cars(they origionally had 40 tooth reluctors). 6 speed cars have to have an A4 file with all the tranny funtions disabled to use it, but there is no option to make the tranny work with a 6 speed PCM file in LT1 cars.
if LS1s are the same way, i bought my sensor and reluctor from Sam Smith (cheapest place i know of to get GM parts). they are brand new and still in the sealed plastic. ill sell them for a small loss

Sounds like a good deal. Does this just plug right into the original LS1 harness.
I'm not sure about the reluctar, but I will do some searching.
Thanks,
Tim

I did some searching and everything I saw said 40 tooth reluctor wheel. Course NONE said anything LS1 specific.

Dragging up an old post but theres some bad info quoted here that I just found while doing a search, dont want anyone having any problems.
The part #s are reversed. It should be,
reluctor ring- 8655315
sensor- 8655291
Sensor is showing a revised part # of 2133513 according to a non-vendor website. Anyone looking to buy one can check into that more.

Yea, there are also two reluctor wheels depending on what size output shaft you have. 32 spline is one size and 27 spline is another.
Yanks tailhousing I'm assuming has a TA mount? I see no other reason for the need to change the tail housing.
You need a chassis mountned TA to use all GM stuff witht he stock tail.
