What do you guys think it may be??

I have an 4l60e it is broken with just 1st and 2nd. The weird thing i just found out was that if you put it in drive or 3rd it doesnt have anything i will just roll backwards like it is in Neutral. when you put the selector in 2nd or 1st it will move along with reverese. I know i need a tranny but i just had a baby and bills are too high and i dont want to park it for a year.

Sounds like low reverse sprag and or planetary has failed would be my opinion

How much do those cost? Im guessing those are hard parts?

Yes they are hard parts and price on them can range considerably but more importantly they require the complete disassembly of the trans and unless it is in very good condition overall a rebuild ,
