Default Installed 2800 Yank Yesterday

I was quite a task, took the better part of a day and a half by myself, I replaced the front and rear trans seals while I was at it and so far no leaks or anything falling off so I feel good about it. I have put about 160miles on it so far half street and half highway, have not done any WOT pulls on it yet but I might later today It does make a little noise at about 2500 rpm and a load, say about 20-30% throttle and goes away right after letting off the gas or after a it gets above a certain rpm. The noise is hard to describe, kinda like a "tin" sound, similar to a heat shield or something but I have checked them they are secure. Do any of your after marker converters make any noise? Happy Holidays -Dave.

Chances are it's not the converter, when you are listening for something to be wrong you'll usually find something little no matter what. I'll be the first to say it.....your going to wish you went bigger!!

Not if he doesn't drive one that has a higher stall in it .. go back and Double check all the bolts, including the TC's, I like to use Lock tite on EVERYTHING personally... MAKE SURE if all else checks out you don't drive it until you have it checked out by a trans guy.. could also be an internal problem and driving on it could destroy everything..

I made sure to use locktite on the converter bolts. I'm going to go do a visual on it now. Thanks -Dave

You might have a cracked flexplate or a loose tc bolt. I would get it figured out asap. Vince

OK, pulled off inspection plate and tab, inspected front and back of flexplate, looks good. Unbolted converter, double checked clearance it is about 1/4in, reinstalled and torqued to specs. I found that I left the d/s o2 sensor bracket loose, so I secured it. Reinstalled starter and test drove, same noise it is like a slight rubbing noise I can hear it from about 2500-4500. Stumped.

I'm saying this is the problem but your flexplate could be cracked around the crankshaft bolts. Make sure that your exhaust isn't rubbing on the driveshaft and that all the crossmember bolts are tight.

Things could be flexing with the motor. I would suggest going over the install again. It's either something happened on the install or the is a problem with the new tc.

I have come to the conclusion it is a heat shield rattle( kind of relieved). I love the way it feels by the way, good mod in my opinion.

When I went to the track a couple of months ago I saw some guy with a tolue trans am. I asked him what he had done. The first thing he told me was that he had a 3000 stall and he wish he had gone bigger. He said he planned on going up to a 3500 pretty soon.

Tainted, the only negative you have is that you have a high mileage car. I dont know how trannies react to huge stalls with high miles. That is the only reason to why I could agree with your choice of 2800

I personally dont have a stall, but everytime I see threads about stalls, most people wish they had gone bigger, or have already gone bigger. I will learn from their mistakes and go at least a 3600 stall. You have to remeber it is not only stall size but str also.
