Default what is wrong with my A4?

Today I punched it in my 94 z 28 a second after it shifted into second. The tranny downshifted normally and it pulled through first fine, but instead of hitting second, it bounced of the rev limiter a few times and would not upshift until I let off. The car does seem to hesitate a little on the 1-2 shift, but it had never hit the rev limiter before. I didnt even think an a4 was able to hit the rev limiter in drive. For the most part, the car shifts fine under acceleration, so i dont think it needs to be rebuilt (knocking on wood) . If you have an idea of what might be wrong or a link to a similar thread that I might have missed on search, I would appreciate if you would let me know.

You could be having band begining to fail or maybe even a broken 1-2 accumulator or broken accumulator spring. Does your car have a stall?

As Vince said I would take a look at the 2nd accumulator spring if there are no codes

Has the 1-2 part throttle shift changed? or just the WOT shift? Is the shift getting longer, sliding into 2nd gear?

The tranny only seems to have trouble at WOT, otherwise it shifts fine.

Thanks for all the responses. Does anyone have an idea of how much this would cost to get fixed?
