I really wish i would of taken pics and i still may be able too since they wont even be able to send it off till tuesday (the convertor).

It was an art carr convertor and im at a choice where i can ditch it or repair the shaft and im kind of in a dilema whether i want to fork over some more money for a new convertor or get my same one repaired for free and not be out any money.

No the pump was not discolored just scared at the base where it came apart. The fluid smelt like new and there was no metal fragments in the pan either. But i'll definatley relay that info on to the builder and see what he has to say about it. I really appreciate everybodys concern and help on my situation! Oh yeah whats a PWM? And it definatley wasn't at lock up because lock up wouldn't engage the night before and never would after it quit.

It is possible the converter hub failed and took out the pump... that makes more sense to me... probably happened during a PWM event or at 100% lock-up.

I am sure the folks making the repairs will thoroughly inspect it for residual debris. Sounds like you are in good hands indeed.

PWM = Pulse Width Modulation. It is a term that refers to the amount of time, measured in miliseconds and seen as a percentage on a scanner, that the converter clutch piston is fed fluid pressure. Fuel injectors also operate on a PWM. Basically, the converter clutch is slipping for a time prior to 100% application depending on several conditions. It was introduced by the factories years ago in order to improve driveability. It serves no purpose in a performance application and is often deleted by modifying the hydraulic circuits that activate the converter clutch.
