Default 4l60e starting to slip....what next?!?!

ok guys. a new problem has arisen . today i drove my car to work and is the first its been driven since i took it for a spin the other day after the cooler problem. seems that first and second are ok but third and especially fourth is slipping and giving it more than a qtr of gas it doesnt accelerate, just revs. dont seem to be locking up either. please tell me this isnt some major damage. im thinking about buying some kevlar clutches and doing a rebuild on it. what do you think? would this fix the problem? and i know i should take it to a trans shop but simply dont have the funds. and this is my daily driver and gotta keep down time to a minumum. what is your advice?

your trans will probably totally stop moving the car within a week. when my 4l65 started slipping it got worse everyday. i found out my pump died and most of my clutches were fried. it took some other stuff out too, but i don't remember. my advice is: unless you have built a tranny before, take it to someone who has and see if he does side jobs.

When stars to slip, never return to be 100% efficient.

Engine miss-fires can also effect the computer and keep it from sending the signal for the tcc. Vince

yeah, you need a rebuild. i don't know how much power ur making, but i would look into clutch packs that are thinner---that way you can have a couple more clutchs for each gear====meaning more clutch suface area.

a speed shop should be able to get them for you. and make sure you replace your converter with the rebuild...your old converter is probally filled with debris---you don't want that in a fresh tranny.
