Transmission noise?
I have an A4 02 Trans Am, the noise is hard to describe but everytime you floor it around 40-50k it does this noise after it's done spinning the tires. Almost like a blow off noise of some sort.
is it the sound of it hitting the rev limiter? I don't shift this car at all! I just leave it in drive and the car is BONE STOCK. I'm worried if this transmission is already on it's way out. Car only has 3900 miles.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Heres a video of a Camaro what does the EXACT NOISE mine does.
27 seconds into the video it does the noise.

I cant say for sure on yours but that one sounded like it hit the rev limiter , from listening and looking at the tach

ya I'm thinking it's hitting the rev limiter as well, cuz it does that EXACT noise.
But my car's stock! and I don't shift all I do is hammer it to the floor and after the tires spin it does that exact noise before goin into the next gear.
should it be doing that? won't it kill the transmission?
Sorry for the dumb post but I'm just worried a little cuz it always does that sound when gunning it at lower speeds.

well if its between second and third your 3-4 clutch could be on the way to failing even at low miles when you give these a had time the 3-4 clutch dosent take alot of abuse before it goes

theres another video with the noise OUTSIDE of the car, mine does that exact noise and sounds pretty much the same INSIDE the car. after it gets out of first it does it.

Dude my car does the exact same thing!!! I've been trying to figure out what it is. I thought it was my exhaust but I dont think so. Im running a bullet off my y pipe dumped at the axle...and my car is NOT hitting the limiter at all. It's actually shifting early i need a tune since my converter. but anyway

Yeah mine makes the same noise in between shifts. I have true duals and it is just something that happens. I think it would make the same noise if you put it in first and brought it up to 30 and let off the gas really quick. I did that a few times when I was all stock cause it sounded mean and made the sound I think you are describing. I would not worry about it. It is like the sound that 6spd cars make when they drop a gear but instead in between the trans shifting and for a split second.
It definitely hit the rev limiter on the first vid. With 3900 miles, i'm assuming you bought your car new? If not, then it could possibly have a aftermarket stall in it which could make it slip without a tune. If you bought your car new, then your tranny is probably slipping and is on it's way out.
Have a tuner raise your rev limiter and/or install of shift kit to see if that'll help.
Have a tuner raise your rev limiter and/or install of shift kit to see if that'll help. mine did that to but i changed the fluid and filter and tune and it went away then came back. found out what it was and it was a bearing in the tail shaft that went bad changed it and it all went away runs good as new. to check it pull the drive shaft out and lift up on the output shaft and if it is more than like an 1/8 of an inch then you need to replace it.
