In between 3 converters
Vig all the way, Yank second, if not one of those two, you're venturing into some "unchartered territory" may work out, may not.. why fuq around with you're $$$$...good luck there's alot to be said for a good REPUTATION, proven, reliable converters aren't a dime a dozen..

So you're saying that Neal Chance isn't a proven performer?? I know that a lot of people here like their Yanks and Vig's but I'm just wondering if anyone is running the higher end converters... There have been a couple of ATI users but not too many people have said too many things about Coan or Chance.... Is it that they aren't as tested in our cars, not as good, or just too expensive??? If I have to spend the extra money I don't care as much as having a reliable product... I just want it to work with my application you know... it's funny that a lot of people have been saying that they don't like Fuddle and haven't tried them and then the ones that have really like them... Then again some like Spec and most have had horrible experiences with them...It's sometimes a hit or miss...
I should have put Yank and Vig in the Poll but I totally forgot to add them... Thanks everyone for your input again and please keep the voting and posting up... Also, I want a locking converter so if your's doesn't lock up then please say so...

Dave @ Yank FTW! He hooked me up with my PT4000 and I couldnt be happier. Working like a champ and everything is good to go. If you go with Yank you wont be disappointed.

I use Neal Chance now and I love it, very efficient converter made exactly to my setup. You won't see to many respond for the NC of the price. I have also used Yank and Vig before and both are good TC's, but so far I'm liking the NC the best. No I don't have a lock up.

for the 3spd transmissions i would feel confident with any of these three
- Neal chance
- coan
- ATI
i wouldn't think you could go wrong with any of those converter companies. all of them have proven themselves over many years of kicking ***.

I ran a fuddle 3000 2.0str in my 346 procharged Z28 "street car" making 550rwhp for over two years and never had a problem. But the car never went down the track so I cant vouch for there performance on the track , it is now going into my 408cid procharged setup should see over 700rwhp.
I would recommend a Circle D Converter!
Seriously though, you mentioned you are using a TH400 and want lock-up. Sadly a TH400 does not have lock-up, it relies totaly on fluid to transfer all that power. Most guys on here will recommend a Vig or a Yank, they both utilize a billet front cover that not only increases strength, also allows a larger lock-up clutch to be used, but that is for the stock LS1 4L60E transmission. On a side note I also use a billet front cover on Circle D converters. For a TH400, a 3 speed transmission with no lock-up, Coan and Chance are definite performance proven contenders, used in many high HP cars. I also make TH400 converters as well, multiple options and custom built for you.
Give me a call or PM if you have any more questions.

Also I do know that Chuck from FLT(Finish Line Transmissions) formally of FLP has built these by doing a search here on LS1Tech. Search "Th400 lock up". There are a couple threads that I have read it in. The conversion is about $2000 from what I read.

Neal Chance builds a great converter, good choice.
Technically possible, using the variable pitch design for the fluid reversal, expensive and rare. For that amount I would just go with a 4L80 and get OD.
Hey Chris I see that you are new to the site and welcome. Just a FYI a TH400 can be built with a lock up converter. Precision Industries is the only one that I know of that makes a kit to do it. Here is a link to Thunder racing site that they have the converter listed for sale. I think the price here is just for the converter and there will be additional mods to be done to the pump and valve body. Look for part # 19-VIGILANTE-NL http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...id=297&pcid=73

I had a Vig. and a fuddle
I like the way the fuddle is on the strip, hits hard. But its a little loose for the street.
the fuddle 3400 that i had felt more like a 3600-3800
the vig is a better street stall in my opinion. when I ordered the vig I ask for a convertor between 3400-3600. I think I have a 3200 it feels tight.
After I buy another daily driver I going back with fuddle and put a 4000 in the car. And let her rip
