Default TCI 3500 Install

My brother is planning to get a TCI 3500 stall for his 99 Trans Am, and we will be installing it ourselves. Any helpful hints or "heads-ups" I need to know. I have done converters, just not on a 4th Gen...I was told we will be ok without a tune...does everyone agree with that? Just looking for any helpful info. Thanks.

you will need a tune trust me,as far as a heads up it pretty staight forward.ps you will have to drill a larger size hole in the flex-plate

Ok...more replies please?...I posted a while back about wether or not a tune was needed, and I got a bunch of guys running stalls no tune, with no issues...where are those guys at? I just dont want to put my bro in a tight spot, I want to have the facts. Either it will work fine or it wont...it makes it hard to know when you get "you NEED a tune" and other people are saying "NO tune NO prob"...Thanx

can you elaborate, ive talked to several guys that didnt need to on ssf stalls

what i would do is pull the pdm bat fuse and pcm ign fuse out and turn the ignition on for a while, mine sat for about 20 minutes while i was doing something else, and then put them back and go take the car for a drive around town, not on the highway for at least a half hour like on your way home or something. mine adapted to the 4000 stall with no tune that way until i took it to get it tuned, had no issues when i did that. that's what i would try first if you dont want to get a tune right away.

The drilling Im not worried about I guess, but the tune is important to know for sure.

i didnt have to drill holes, just moved to another set of holes that was in the flexplate
