Default Stock 4L60E durability?

How much power can a stock A4 with the LS1 tranny take? At what point (what ET's or power or mods, anything) should I be getting worried about it? Also, should I worry about this or the rear end first with drag radials?

Little modding and its dead. But some last and some dont. I have a friend with a 4000 stall, MS3 and ETP heads on ET streets and the trans is still stock. I also know a kid who blew his trans with just Lid and catback. Who knows is the real answer. Yours might last into the 11's and it might go out tomorrow.

There are alot on factors that go into that question , Present condition of trans, Your driving hablts, I mean two people can have a totally stock car and one last 175000 miles and the other not last 50000 , just depends .
Typically though when you start getting much over 350 with the stock trans and if you like beating on it alot you will be in the market for a built unit in short order

Mine has about 53k on it and about 10k of it at my current power levels. Plus a few dozen track passes. My 3-4 Clutch pack is on it's way out.

Why is it people build bad *** engines but neglect the trans, just build that bitch at a reputable shop. Ask around there only a few it seems!

I've heard that once you have a cam and nitrous, be prepared to get a new unit soon especially if you spray off the line. I'm still on the stock unit but getting it built is my next mod. Also depends on how often you change the fluid and filter, maintenance is key!!
