locked converter durig 1/8 mile drag
is it bad to lock the converter. i have an auto ss, nitrous midwest converter 3600 and make 600-625 rwhp. is it bad to lock the converter after say 40 mph? ive locked it on the dyno to see the hp difference and itss about 25 rwhp. what do you guys think?

dyno is pretty rough on locking the converter, track may not be any worse, but you are decreasing the life of the tranny, IMO.

Wouldn't there be more heat with it unlocked? Now....I could see it causing more wear on the TCC clutch if it wasn't designed to be locked at WOT...

There is only heat generated when your RPM is beloow stall speed of the converter , And unless you have a multidisk clutch converter it is not designed for lockup at WOT though it may take it for a while the total life will be diminshed greatly ,
Generally also unless you have a very loose (too loose)converter there is no advantage to locking at WOT , In fact many people say they show lower ETs when locked.
