Default Converter question....

Posted this in drag section, but not getting any help there. Anyways, i decided to step up in converter. Instead of the Vig3200, i was looking for a TP4400. Well, found a few options, but the best one was a REALLY REALLY cheap UT4800. Now i know this is WAAAY overboard for bolt ons, and even some head/cam setups. I was just wondering how much you'd think I'd lose using that converter instead of having it restalled. Season is ending soon, and i'll probably take it to the track maybe 3-4 times after its in, and then put it away for winter for head/cam swap. I was going for a 10sec head/cam combo. A pretty radical head/cam combo. So, if i was planning on doing that, and the UT4800 would be pretty good for that, I figured why not just keep it the way it is for now, and if it doesn't work too well with the head/cam combo, THEN have it restalled. Is that a good decision? I dont' mind the extra swapping in and out. Just don't want to pay more than I have to with multiple restalls. And the original question is what would i be losing e.t. wise compared to teh TP4400? and would it help if I locked it up in 3rd so it wouldn't be so loose?

Chris,

I've seen 3 guys with VERY potent heads cam 346s try that converter and go slower than they did with the awesome Pro Thruster 4400. Raughammer, JS, and Paul from Thunder Racing. In every case, these guys were making mucho hp (Paul was even running a solid roller setup), but they lost ET and mph. If you can buy it cheap, get it, then send it off to Yank to have them restall it to a PT 4400. You will be fastest with that converter. How's a 1.38 60' time sound? 10.60s with no nitrous? Stick with the PT4400. You won't regret it.

Yank normally doesn't do free restalls. Talk to Mike and find out the cost before you buy it.

thanks guys. i ended up buying it thursday night. was built in 02/02 so it's pretty new and its just been sitting a while. mike said 100 for a restall, so it's all good. i sold my vig3200 for more than i'm paying for this converter AND the restall so i'm good to go, and thanks for the advice!!! Forgot about those guys trying the converter.
