shift kits?

shift kits? what's up everyone? is there any simple explanation to all the shift kits for the 4L60E's out there? i've seen a lot of kits, but some offer more than others. like, B&M makes a "transmission upgrade" kit that supposedly requires something as simple as replacing some kinda valve, i think? but then they also offer one that comes with more valves, or, clutches... i'm not sure, that also comes with a complete set of gaskets. and then there''s the Transgo company. what i really want to know is what kind of shift kit am I looking for if i were to get one because that will most likely be my next modification. thanks.

Really only benefit or "need" a shift kit when using a bigger torque converter. You'll also need a tranny cooler. Shift kit, stall(torque converter), tranny cooler all are usually done at the same time. I have a Transgo shift kit, Vig 3600 stall(maybe a bit big for a dd) and a tranny cooler.
Shift kits make the cluthes engage faster , Faster engagment means less heat a soft shift is frictions sliding on steels , Rub your hands together quickly and what you feel multiplied several 100 times is whats happening to your frictions in your trans during a smooth shift

well, what i'm really trying to do is put all the stuff on my car as i can afford it. i noticed shift kits weren't ridiculously priced, but do you think it would be more worth it to throw more power in the motor before worrying about the rest of the drivetrain, or would i be alright to do the converter and shift kit?

I would do the converter and shift kit first you will get the biggest bang for the buck there im very sure

The cooler is a nessesity if you get over aprox a 2500 stall , In my opinion , But to see any real improvement you need to get to at least a 3000 stall
