Default $$$$ Converter install

So, how much is the average running price for a shop to install a new torque converter?

I suppose they have to pull the Transmission? And can't just slide it back on two long bolts like the older cars?

$319.40 was what I paid. I dont have good luck wrenching it out, so I thought it was worth it.

I dont honestly see why you would pay to have it done... its not a bad job IMO... time consuming?? yes, but it can be done with simple hand tools and a jack and ramps in a driveway if need be. a lift makes it nice....

If you are dead set on having it done, you shouldnt pay any more than $300 IMO... I'd do it for $200 if I were closer LOL...

Me and my buddy with a lift had my tranny out and back in with new converter in bout an hour and half and thats all in all. With hand tools not air tools... IMO just do it yourself its really not too bad but ofcourse we borrowed a lift.

Yea, I've pulled my share of Tranny's and in some cases you don't even have to drop the tranny to do a converter swap... I haven't done one on a LS1 car and I'm guess there isn't much room to do that trick?

I was thinking a 3000 -3200 stall would be best. The car is stock, no catback, no tuning nothing... Thought about just going with a gear swap going from the 3:23 up to a 3:73? Not sure if that's the best move?
