Another trans dead
I didn't have a chance to get it scanned today, maybe tomorrow.
I haven't pulled the pan yet either. But, the fluid smells ok.
Could it be a solenoid? Or, would i still have 4th?

You cannot get 4Th without 3RD its a combo of the 3-4 clutch and the 2-4 band

Sadly it is my DD. Or at least that was the plan. Otherwise that would be a great swap.
I still haven't had a chance to mess with the truck yet. Maybe after work today.

OK, I have an update. I used HPT to command the gears(Ididn't know HPT would do it).
Anyway Command at speed 45mph 1st good, 2nd good, 3rd -No change, Feels like second, 4th feels like it falls into neutral.
From a Stop if I command 3rd it stays in second. If I command 4th It goes back to 1st.

Verdad Gallardo ok try this unplug the harness and see what gear it feels like. those are some strange symptoms from a mechanical standpoint.

You mean it only has one gear. with the harness unpluged it should feel like second or third , Its really third . Which is a good thing since that means the 3-4 clutch is in tact other wise you would be in first. Basically you ceated limp mode, Which is max line and third gear only , Since you have a level 3 however do not attempt to manual shift to first with the plug unhooked as this can damage the 3-4 clutch.With the syptoms you have described and the clean fluild etc , I would have to lean heavily towads some electrical fault Im gonna go with shift solenoid B (2-3)maybe but we will send you both solenoids and the 3-2 just to be safe along with a pan gaskets. well you have to keep in mind you have no lockup with it unplugged so the rpm will be higher. With that plug unhooked there are only two possibilites for a gear , If the 3-4 clucth in bad you would be in first since 3rd without and 3-4 clutch pack make first. All thats on in third gear is the 3-4 clutch and the forward. In first all you have is the forward clutch so its one of two gears that are possible 1st or 3rd.

OK, I pulled the pan, and it is clean. So, I pulled the solenoids. The Piston on solenoid B feels stuck. The other solenoids piston moves freely and you can feel the spring behind it. Does that help?
The one that you can feel the spring is the 1-2 shift valve. The other is the 2-3 shift valve and it does not use a spring. I would check with Frank but you can probably put it back together and see if it works now.
Man, Im impressed with the two sponsors here that are both helping this guy. Kudos to Performabuilt and FLT! Way to go guys. Hope you get this guys issues resolved.

OK, I'll throw in my old set of solenoids out of my original trans and see if the make a difference. Thanks for all the help!
Does it sound like a solenoid problem? I guess I'll know if the old ones work.
Hmm but you have no way of actually looking at the data stream with the hptuner? to the the section that says actual gear?
