Default Is this a bad tranny or bad converter?

I just installed the motor in my sig. The 4L60e has about 95,000 miles on it. I bought a used Vigilante 3500 converter. I had a Fuddle 4400 on it for about 5000 miles before the new motor. Trans has no shift kit in it but it does have a cooler. It was working perfect up until last night. There were ZERO hints of slippage, etc. I got on the HW and it would not shift out of 2nd gear. I tried putting manually into drive and overdrive with no luck.

The reason I ask if it could be a bad stall is because (1) it is a used stall and (2) it feels like the stall is not locked up at all when it is in 2nd. There is some slop to it and it doesn't pull like you would expect a locked converter to pull.

Would a bad converter that didn't lockup keep the tranny from shifting or am I just already w/out a tranny?

Does performabuilt offer credit lines???

Sounds to me like the tranny died. But I'm sure Performabuilt will jump into this thread as soon as they see it and give you some educated insight.

Good luck.

EDIT: Damn they are fast

I do have an SES light but that has been on since the ORIGINAL stall install. It stayed on after the motor install, I haven't had it tuned yet but it does have a custom PCM from PCM for less. So, it could go into limp mode even after working for a week just fine? Would any transmission shop be able to check for the code or do I need to take it to GM? I hope it is safe to drive for the time being because it is my only transportation...

Used converters are always full of surprises.

Cool I will see if I can get it to them on Monday.
It will no longer go in reverse either. I drove it to work today and it still wouldn't go into D or OD, but 1 and 2 shifted fine without issues. Then, today after work, it wouldn't back out of the parking spot....??
