Thank you, but I have already read that and many other posts on here about the swap. I have talked to Keith directly and was told by HIM, that the 4l80 programing could not be done on a '98 PCM. Which is why I specifically asked about people that have done it in a '98 car to see how they got it to work.

I'm considering the swap in my 98 as well. From what I gather you can either buy a stand alone controller for around $600 or get a manual valve body. I personally like the manual aspect so that doesn't bother me if that is an option.

98 you must switch the harness and computer for a 99/02 harness and computer and buy a speartech harness adapter or by a stand alone control that runs for 650 from tci or make it manual valve body.

It's a shame to give up the programmability of the 80E. I have the TCI controller and it's great. I have it set up to be mellow like stock under 47% TPS, but when my secondaries start opening at 48% TPS I have it quickly change to a beast transmission with neck snapping shifts. Also you can dial in upshift/downshift points with MPH and TPS per gear, line pressures vs. TPS per gear, full datalog including temps, paddle shifting and much more. I would never accept a manual 80E unless I only saw strip action.
