Need to get a tranny. Whats all you guys opinions? Had tranny problems for 2 years and sick of it need something that will last.

FYI. Will go with SY4000.

There is a guy in Houma, La. that has built my wifes 4l60e. I got his name from Steve Devieller(sp) from Performance SS in Plaquemine, La. Steve has a supercharged LT1 that runs 10.60s. He also has a low 12 sec car that has one of this guys trannies. Steves 10 sec car has been goin for 1.5 years on this tranny. My wifes car is working perfect with this tranny. There is also a guy here in town with a stroker LT1 with a tranny built by this guy and it is holding up too. I spent ~$2500.00 with a local guy here that is good with older race trannies. I got about 800-900 miles with 2 of his trannies each time. I gave up on that.
This guy will build your tranny for $550.00. When I heard that I couldn't pass up at least trying him. So far so good. I have no complaints. When I heard about the 10 sec car going for 1.5 years on the tranny, I was sold.

I~ve had great luck with my FLP.. love the way it shifts .. Chuck @ FLP has been building transmissions for more than 20 years...

 

I went through 3 Yanks (2 their fault, one mine) and although i think Mike and Ray are great and took care of me when things went wrong I decided to try out an FLP and it has worked flawlessly so far. The shifting is much better also.

Tell me more tim! Do you know if he puts better hard parts in the tranny? Also how are the shifts? I was going to buy a Yank tranny but now I am wondering

 

I really don't know what he puts in them. I do know he tells you to send a shift kit with it if it doesn't have one installed yet.
Shifts are fast and firm.
Give him a call. He will be able to tell you lots more than me.

I tried the others....money down the tubes!!! FLP has ended my problems (well tranny problems :-) The people at FLP are top notch and the product has a great reputation. Don't make the mistakes I did going with trannys people claimed were as good as FLP, save the heart ache and do it right the first time.
