Would yall choose the YANK or FLP 4L60E? Its a 2002 ss, will get mild street use (had it for a month now and its got 60 miles on it) and a good amont of 1/4 passes on it. I heard YANKs have a shifting noise, but other then that its a good trans. Any opinions?

I'd let GM fix your car under warranty if you have a 2002. I have a Yank and it has been fine. I'd consider local options too.

Ditto to Ragtop 99 but the thing about FLP or YANK is that sometimes to get a great built tranny and sometimes you don't..It's a hit and miss type thing...I have heard complaints on both tranny builders!!!!
It`s a brand new car... break the stock one first at least.. then warranty it, then start thinking about dropping 2 G`s on a trans.. if the cash is burning a hole in your pocket I`ll gladly put it to good use if you need me to. NOOOOO problem

With a good tranny cooler and regular fluid changes, the stock one should be fine (with a converter). Like the other guys said.. leave it alone till it breaks.
I had a freak flexplate problem.. or I would probably still be running the stocker.

I ran the stock one for about 200 track runs, many in the 11 sec range. I had the tranny flushed 4 times in 19000 miles. Sounds crazy, but it lasted awhile, and in fact, is still good. When I took out the convertor to upgrade the stall, it smelled a little burnt, so I got the FLP.
So far the FLP runs great with 2 trips to the track, and a best run of 10.6. So far, so good. I dont think it will last forever at this kinda times, but on a general street car, with occasional track time, you would be in good shape with the FLP.
I also suggest that you stick with the stock tranny, until it starts to slip, before upgrading. Good luck.

Just a Q for Badz....I searched this site and find that the only complaints with the FLP LVL4 were always found to be something else? I am not really sure what you mean by...

Are they perfect? I doubt it, but I would like to know where you saw them having problems so I can figure out what I missed
