I daily drive mine and I have a TCI 4000. My old car had a 4600 and I daily drove that as well. Once it locks up, it is fine.

Go for a ride in a car that is set up the way you think you might want to set your car up. I don't mind a 4000 stall converter on the street at all. Some people hate it though. The car feels like a snowmobile until you get up in the higher rpms where the converter starts to really work. Sometimes I can barely feel the car shift. A big sloppy converter will also make it hard to keep the rpms down when you're trying to be quiet, especially if you have a loud exhaust system. Like when the fuzz is right behind you, creeping through your neighborhood late at night trying not to wake up the neighbors, etc etc...

I like my 4000 stall on the street..I ended up going with 3.42's because it is my daily driver..80 at 2500rpm's is manageable

Yeah, thats what I've been thinking. I'm planning on aggressive heads and cam with full exhaust so if I'm leaving stop lights at 3000+ all the time that might get a little annoying. I don't have anyone near me with a sports car, much less a stalled LS1 so I've got to go by opinions on here and vids. A higher stall looks manageable in the vids so I think I'll stick with the 4000. I'll just tell the cop I've got transmission issues if I get pulled over and maybe he will feel sorry for me and let me off.

An engine that needs a 4k stall is not going to be happy with a 3k converter. It will be a real slug. If you can't deal with the converter, you should be looking at a milder engine set up. You should really look at your goals and priorities before getting all gung ho about rwhp numbers and lopey sounding cams.

Made that mistake, used a 3200 when I should have gone bigger;
She ran nice on the street but really bogged off the line and following shifts.
The 4K made a world of difference at WOT.

I watched some more vids from various sites and I think I'll stick with the 4000. The way the cars in those vids accelerated was amazing when they got on it.

i would go with a yank ss4000 my dads pt4400 seems pretty loose on the street for a daily driver...he is ms3/5.3 heads also and to keep up with traffic he is around 3k...with my ss3600 i am around 2200...i think the ss is more of a DD stall would not even second think running a ss4000 but anything higher is up to preference i guess...
