Default How long does a verter last

How long does a converter last with DD'ing and say 2 WOT pulls a week? Right now I have a Stage II tranny that is rated at 400 RWHP and I will be spraying over the summer so I'm upgrading the tranny. My question is if I've had my tranny/converter for a year and a half, do i need to get the converter rebuilt etc.? How long should it last? Thanks!

Thats like asking "how long til my left rear brake light goes out?"

Yes if you're rebuilding a transmission get the converter cut open and rebuilt.

i wouldnt say you have a freak car. thats just how a converter shines. I was also running 12.32 with a 2.73 rear, Yank ST3800 stall and mac midlength headers.

It depends on who's converter it is, power level, how you drive it, etc. I have seen some go 3 years, beaten daily, and last that long, and others I have seen go out after 3,000 miles of street driving and only 5 track passes.

Salty is an understatement. I get beyond pissed when fraud comes into play, but I would like to keep this thread on topic

Precisely correct! It is about quality. A well built unit will outlast your engine, if the trans is properly maintained. I beat the hell out of my Vig3200 and it lasted for about three years (over 68,000 miles).

I just hate how some people bash Fuddle, when I'm putting down better #s than some of your well known high priced verters

I put around 80,000 on a TCS 4200 converter before pulling it to try something else. Worked great the day I pulled it.

i run a 4000 stall from Fuddle and have had it in the car well over a year and have vut best of mid 1.5 60 foot times and have driven it on many many hundreds of mile trips with no problems. My best advice to you is get the best trans cooler you can afford, that will help with the life of your TC and trans

My Fuddle 3600 just died this week. the lockup clutch wont hold anymore. got about 25,000 miles, and around 35 track passes out of it. Installed last july. this was their street version. Just upgraded to their HP version with the extra clutch surface. Installing with a new performabilt level2. Hope to get better than a year this time. The stock tranny was still hanging in there with 125,000 miles and 10 years of severe abuse but wont shift 2-3 wot after it gets hot anymore.

That's funny my old Vig 3200 lasted 3 years also...But, it didn't have no 68k on it...more like 15k miles Maybe 30 strip passes....Went back to Yank after that Vig took out my tranny.... So, you never know how long their going to last. I do plan on having them rebuilt every 3 years now just to be sure....well, except for my old YTP 4000 in Twofast4lv's car, 5 years of abuse including 600+rearwhp out of the car and still going strong.

My TCI SF3000 has worked perfectly for 3 years of daily driving - about 25,000 miles - and many strip passes. But I'm going to replace it with a Yank SS3600 in a few weeks because I think it's time - and I want a little more at the track.

heymoe you shitstirrer. yeah that was quite an upgrade I made there. That was the last time I got to drive my then dependable camaro to work. Worst part was I sold a low mile stock tranny out of a wreck to buy my "indestructible" level 2.
