Stock tranny and Stall question

Stock tranny and Stall question I'm thinking of getting another ls1. The last one I had fryed the tranny and I ended up going to a th-350. I had a vig3200 in the car w/ no cooler or shift kit. My question now is for you guys who have had large stalls(3200 and up ) in stock trannys without problems, what did you do to the tranny to keep it together? I'm thinking maybe next time I should get a cooler and a deep pan. Sound right? Anything else? What size cooler? Any other advice? Am I better off just getting a 350 from the start?

Re: Stock tranny and Stall question I have a vig 3200 no shift kit yet and a 24,000 trans cooler.I ran a hpp3 for a while with the line pressure turned up.It was pretty good but I wanted it to shift harder.I dont have the hpp3 on it now and it shifts really soft.I would say go with a transgo shift kit and the big cooler and you will be fine.

1) use a cooler
2) no ported MAFs
3) keep your LTrims correct; 0 or negative
Use of the 25% HPP3 setting or transgo with one washer may also be useful.

Re: Stock tranny and Stall question Trans cooler should probably be sold as part of the higher stall TC setup. TC is a fluid "pump" and generates heat in proportion to the raise in stall properties. There are lots of TC install's out there without deep pans but all the better to give greater fluid volume to distribute the heat thru. But do the cooler no matter what. Ya' gotta git rid of the heat.
