Default Whose running a Performabuilt Tranny and stall?

Well my tranny started going wacko today. Shifts went soft, rpms up and down, not really pulling when giving it gas. Won't go into OD most of the time. So I'm figuring its basically shot. It has a TCI 3000 stall and a Transgo which only has about 1800 miles since the shift kit install but theres 114,800 on the tranny. So I'm pretty sure its done. I'm looking at the Level 2 with the 3500 stall that Performa makes. I really like the 1 year warranty on it. I will probably go to a Procharger next year. So I'm not sure if the Performa stall can handle supercharged applications. I'm just wanting some input and real world views from people that are actually using their stuff. Performa is welcome to give me any info on whether their stall can handle supercharged apps. Thanks for any and all input guys.

A buddy of mine just ordered a level 3 performabuilt trans to run with his YANK PT4000 converter. I'll give their trans a chance with his car and if all goes well might try one in my truck. As for the converter, YANK is the poohpooh

yeh I hear you on the Yank converter. I've been leaning towards a Yank 3600 for some time and this is probably the incentive I need to get one. The Performa tranny with a Yank 3600 would probably be a great combo.

Which line of yank are you looking at? The PT series are BAD for drag racing, and all around street use. The PYE are BAD for power-adder setups.

Well I was looking at the SS3600. I wonder how much power that stall can handle? I don't think I'd ever want more than 500 rwhp. The car is basically a weekend warrior. Will see some track time to get it dialed in but once I know the times it can run I doubt it would see the track often. A Procharger would be a ways off anyway. I'd probably do heads/cam first and I probably wouldn't even need the Procharger anyway. I'm gonna call and talk to Yank and see what they recommend. From what I understand the SS3600 is a very good and tough converter.

I have a performabuilt level 2 wih their 3500 stall on my S/C LS1 GTO. I am making 511/500, and it has held up well so far. I have put half a dozen 1/8 mile passes on it, and probably 2k street miles with 1/2 of those being hard driving.

I just ordered a lvl 2 with their 4000 stall converter. It should be here sometime soon. The 4000 stall is going to replace my Yank SS3600 that i have now so maybe i can give you a comparison when i get my car all finished.

Yeh I talked to Dave at Yank and the wait on the stall is like 2 weeks. I think I just may go ahead and get the Level 2 and stall from Performabuilt. Both have a 1 yr warranty. Thats hard to beat right there.
