planets because 5 pinions on a normal 4 pinion circle one must be put in an odd place. example- the od planet has 34 tooth sun and a 78 tooth internal. to get the location for the pinions you add the sun numbers together. 78+34=112. that number is then divided by the number of pinions you want to use. 112/4=28 and what that means the pinions can be 90 degress apart. if you divide by 5 you get 22.5 an odd number so they have to spaced differantly to get them all tio mesh properly. boy l help that helps

Is this a GM or aftermarket planetary? If it is a GM and the gears still move smoothly and they have very little rocking action to them, you probably will be ok. Does the contained bearing feel smooth when turning it? Are the gears discolored at all (blue)?, but I question as to how they got this much play in a short time. If they are aftermarket, throw them away and replace with a good used GM 4 pinion or GM 5 pinion, as they are much cheaper.
