i had to install a new shifter cable, and now i don't have park?? i have all other gears and I am sure it is a cable problem. How do you adjust the cable?? I don't see any kind of adjustment at the pan or by the shifter?? Any help would be great!!
there's a place on the cable itself that has a plastic piece that is adjusted. it's something if you see it youll know it's it. there are grooves in the plastic and when you take the retainer clip out, you can slide the mechanism towards the front and put the retainer clip back in. that will allow you to have park again (moving the adjuster longer so that it allows the cable to fully push forward)
I know this is an old thread, but I'm having a similar problem my shifter cable (a4) broke, and I put a new one in. I noticed that the gear indicator is not right (in drive in N, r is between P and n, etc), and when it park it will roll. Is the thing you're talking about on the bracket hooked to the trans?
I actually found that earlier, and thanks for the response. Now the shifter does not go into gear as firm. As in I thought it was in drive, and it wouldn't shift out of first because it wasn't fully engaged in drive.
