HELP!!! Newbie to Torque Converter, where to begin
Sorry for posting this, but I know there's a FAQ somewhere out there. Times are in my sig. I am looking to break into the 11's with a torque converter. I want something that won't affect my mileage, but will also be killer on the street. What is there to know? Please post away, the more info. the better, thanks.
I got good gas mileage suprisingly from Houston to Baton Rouge when I first installed my Vig3600, and it has gotten me into the 11's easily even with the little 2.37 str (easier on your rear end). I can't tell you how it runs on the street, my car is setup for the track. I have run a best of 11.7 @ 114 with 1.55 60' stock internal and N/A with this converter. And I am actually contemplating selling it soon to use the money for something else, so if you are interested email or PM me. This is good converter for the price.
Oh yeah, almost forgot...if you want a converter you will have to have a good set of tires for your car to have any chance of hooking up.

Hi there. I am VERY interested. However, if you don't mind, I'm sure you want to sell it, but I want to do my research. FULLY learn which converter I want, which will work best with my car. I have 3.73 rear gears now, and am wondering if a 3600 stall is too much. I am going to in the future supercharge my car, so I'm worried about if I'll be able to launch at the track with all that power, or how that'll handle, and I don't want to swap this converter out twice. Do it once, and that's it. Please shoot me an e-mail to Michaelozorowsky@hotmail.com with what your asking for the verter, and if you don't mind, lemme do some research, and I'll let you know very soon.
you aren't going to drop .8 with a converter if you want good gas mileage and run dunlop tires on 3.73 gears.
a realistic solution is a low STR 3300 - 3600 converter such a SuperYank 3500 or a TCS 3300 with a 1.9 STR. Gas mileage in town will be off only 1 - 2 mpg and with practice you'll learn to launch it ok. With nittos you'll do very well.

Nope. I won't drop .8 with a converter, though I will drop .5. My best et so far (Am going to update profile now) was a 12.78 @ 109.91 mph with 2.04 60' on street tires with a DA of 2763, with the pressure at 29.46. So there's still room for improvement with the 60', and add the converter, your talking a definite. 11.9 or better.
youre gonna need tires to go with that stall, bfg's or e.t streets. nittos at the very least. ive driven a 3800 stalled car with 3.73 gears and it wasnt bad at all. it was an lt1 car so not entirely the same but the performance gain over the stock converter was so good that the gas mileage drop is a negligible effect IMO. ive got a tci3500 waiting to go in my car now.
What about if I went with a 3200 or 3300 stall? Would I get a big gain, with little change in gas mileage? Thanks in advance.

I've got a SS3800E with a 3.70 gear and it drives a thousand times better than my ST3500 with a 2.73 so with your gear i say go for the more aggressive Converter just get some tires
